Fairy House Village Challenge Registration:

The Granville Center for the Arts invites artists, families, students, scout troops, businesses, and imaginative humans of all ages to build and display their own magical fairy house as part of the Granville Fairy House Village, in celebration of America 250.

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, the Granville Fairy House Village celebrates one of our country's most enduring traditions: everyday people gathering to create handmade folk art, tell stories, and transform shared spaces through creativity, craftsmanship, and imagination.

Debuting with the kickoff of the Granville Fourth of July Festival on July 1, the outside of the arts center will transform into a whimsical world of fairy dwellings created entirely by our community's imagination. The village will remain on display from July 1 through July 31, inviting visitors to wander, explore, and discover tiny details tucked into the heart of Downtown Granville.

Whether simple or elaborate, your fairy house should feel as though it belongs in nature and was built for the tiny fairies who call Granville home.

Building Guidelines:

  • Fairy houses should appear to be made primarily from natural materials. Sticks, bark, pebbles, pinecones, dried grasses, acorns, seed pods, shells, flowers, gourds, miniature pumpkins, and other nature-inspired materials are encouraged.

  • Small amounts of hot glue, nails, twine, or other structural materials may be used, but should remain mostly hidden within the design whenever possible.

  • Please avoid glitter, large plastic elements, paper products that may disintegrate outdoors, or metal materials that could rust.

  • Fairy houses should be built with outdoor durability in mind. Weather-resistant materials and sturdy bases are strongly encouraged.

  • Decorations and materials should remain attached to the fairy house itself and not extend into surrounding landscaping or trees.

  • Please do not include valuable or irreplaceable items. The arts center is not responsible for loss, theft, weather damage, or curious animals with excellent taste in architecture.
