We invite you to help us imagine, create, and grow.
Volunteer at the Granville Center for the Arts
The Granville Center for the Arts was created by the community, for the community. It's a space where the arts belong and are accessible to everyone. The arts center isn't just a place to see art; it's a place where diversity is celebrated, artistic experiences are shared, and community connections create a stronger, more welcoming place for everyone. Since opening our doors on April 1, 2023, volunteers have helped us host over 400 free, inclusive, and accessible events. Each one has been a reminder that when people give their time, talent, and love, anything is possible.
With no paid staff or government funding, you're probably wondering how we all do what we do. You guessed it, volunteers. Artists who share their skills. Friends and neighbors who set up chairs and clean up after events. Parents who pitch in so kids can explore new creative worlds. Every single program, concert, workshop. Every moment of inspiration, every smile—it all begins with people like you.
Whether you're an artist, a teacher, a builder, a baker, a musician, or someone who loves being an active participant in our community, we invite you to help us imagine, create, and grow.
What makes us different?
At most nonprofits, volunteers help. At Granville Center for the Arts, volunteers are the arts center. Every single program, every event, every piece of art in our space has a volunteer's fingerprints on it. This is your arts center, your canvas, your community.
Why volunteer here?
Your ideas become programming.
Have a special skill or a passion project? We'll help you turn it into a workshop, performance, class, or community experience.
You help shape the center.
Volunteers don't just assist; they design how art is shared, celebrated, and sustained in Granville.
You build real community.
Meet creative souls, welcome new audiences, and make the arts accessible to every neighbor who walks through our doors.
You leave a legacy.
Every event, class, and mural born from volunteer energy leaves a mark that lasts long after the lights go out.
Example Volunteer Opportunities:
These are examples—not boxes. Bring who you are, and we'll build around your strengths.
Artist-Led Experiences
Turn your talent into community programming. We'll source materials so guests can participate for free; you bring the magic.
Gallery Docents
Our gallery is open Sundays from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, and our volunteer docents make that possible. Share stories, welcome visitors, and spark curiosity. No art history degree required—just kindness and wonder.
Event Crew
Help set up for concerts, workshops, and festivals. From moving chairs to greeting guests, you're the steady hand that makes the night sing.
Youth Program Assistants
Support kids' workshops and camps. If glitter, glue sticks, and big imaginations make you smile, you'll feel right at home.
Creative Specialists
Photographers, designers, carpenters, gardeners, storytellers, social pros—your specialized skills can elevate the whole space.
Project Leads ("Super Volunteers")
Mentor new volunteers, pilot fresh ideas, and co-create what's next for the center.
Have an idea that doesn't fit a list? Perfect. That's where the best stuff starts.
How to get started:
It all begins with a conversation. Tell us what excites you—whether it's a skill you'd love to share, an idea you want to bring to life, or just the joy of being part of something bigger. Together, we'll explore possibilities and create a role that feels right for you.
Unsure where you fit? Don't worry. Together with our Creative Director, we'll find the perfect way for your gifts and passions to uplift the center and our community.
